Born Carl Alleborn in Missouri. Entered American film as a stunt man on THE PATENT LEATHER KID (1927) at First National Pictures. He worked as an assistant director in the early 1930s and the early 1950s. Credits include SHOW GIRL IN HOLLYWOOD (1930), UNION DEPOT and DOCTOR X (both 1932), BEYOND THE FOREST (1949), I WAS A COMMUNIST FOR THE FBI (1951), THUNDER OVER THE PLAINS (1953), YOUNG AT HEART (1954), SINCERELY YOURS (1955) and BAND OF ANGELS (1957). In the 1930s and 40s, he also worked largely uncredited as a unit manager and production manager at Warners on such films as A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM (1935), ANOTHER DAWN (1937), THE ADVENTURES OF ROBIN HOOD and FOUR DAUGHTERS (both 1938), JUAREZ (1939), ALL THIS, AND HEAVEN TOO (1940), HIGH SIERRA, THE STRAWBERRY BLONDE, DIVE BOMBER and THE MALTESE FALCON (all 1941), CASABLANCA (1942, prod. mgr.), BETWEEN TWO WORLDS (1944), THE INSPECTOR GENERAL (1949, prod. mgr.), THE WEST POINT STORY (1950, prod. mgr.) and THE TANKS ARE COMING (1951, prod. mgr.).
