Born Scott Rathbone Beal In Quinnesec, Michigan. Son of actors Frank Beal (1862 - 1934) and Louise Lester (1867-1952). Entered American film as an assistant director at Bluebird with UNDINE (1916). Worked as a.d. until 1947. Production manager credits include THE BRASS BOTTLE (1923), IN EVERY WOMAN'S LIFE (1924), MADEMOISELLE MODISTE (1926) and MAGNIFICENT BRUTE (1936). He directed JUST LIKE A WOMAN (1923) and STRAIGHT FROM THE HEART (1935 - Universal).
