Born Claudette Lily Chauchoin in Paris, she moved to New York City in 1910 and appeared on Broadway in 1925 before making her film debut in Frank Capra's FOR THE LOVE OF MIKE (1927). Ingenuous, beautiful and with a natural aptitude for both drama and sophisticated comedy, Colbert was one of Hollywood's brightest talents during the 1930s and 40s.
