Born in Louisville, Kentucky. Writer who entered American film in the Pathé western short THE GIRL FROM ARIZONA (1910). He worked as a scenarist in silent films (frequently for Universal westerns) for Pathé, Universal, Metro and Warners. He made the transition to talking pictures, writing scripts, stories and adaptations. Some notable credits include PACIFIC LINER (1938), DEVIL'S ISLAND (1939), THE TULSA KID and UNDER TEXAS SKIES (both 1940), and several other westerns. He retired from films after PRAIRIE EXPRESS (1947).
