Born in Nova Scotia, Canada. Writer who entered American film at Famous Players - Lasky with A WOMAN OF THE WORLD (1925). RED DANCER OF MOSCOW -1928), THE HOLE IN THE WALL (1929), DANGEROUS NAN McGREW and ANIMAL CRACKERS (continuity) (both 1930), BRITISH AGENT (1934 - uncredited dialogue contributor) and his last film THE STORY OF LOUIS PASTEUR (1935, also story).
Collings' career was cut short when he died of pneumonia in North Hollywood at the age of 35.
