The Awful Truth (1937)
Playwright, novelist and screenwriter whose works were used or adapted in American film beginning with the story for DANCE HALL (1929). Other notable screen credits include PLAYING AROUND and A SOLDIER'S PLAYTHING (both 1930), BAD GIRL (1931, also novel & play), UPTOWN NEW YORK and MARIDO Y MUJER (both 1932), WOMAN ACCUSED, PICK-UP and CHANCE AT HEAVEN (all 1933), SADIE McKEE (1934), HANDS ACROSS THE TABLE, BAD BOY and KING OF BURLESQUE (all 1935), MAKE WAY FOR TOMORROW and THE AWFUL TRUTH (both 1937), MANHATTAN HEARTBEAT (1940), THE GREAT MAN'S LADY (1942), CYNTHIA (1947) and ABOUT MRS. LESLIE (1954). Her plays Bad Girl (1930), The Rich Full Life (1945) and Mid-Summer (1953) were produced on Broadway.

In 1953, Viña Delmar revealed to a reporter from The New York Times Book Review that all her work had been done in collaboration with her husband, Eugene Delmar. She said: "When we're working, we discuss the plot a long time. I write a draft in longhand. Then my husband puts it through the typewriter, changing as he goes."
