Gerald Duffy

American journalist, short-story writer, and film scenarist. Duffy was editor of Redbook magazine and a most prolific contributor of short stories to it and other serial magazines. He had written over 200 stories by the age of 23. His popularity as a writer led to employment by First National Studios as a scenario and title writer in 1919, and he wrote for dozens of films before dying suddenly at the studio while dictating a script. He was 32.

Notable writing credits include A FIGHTING COLLEEN and JINX (both 1919), DOLLARS AND SENSE (1920), HOLD YOUR HORSES (1921), SURE-FIRE FLINT (1922), BRIGHT LIGHTS OF BROADWAY (1923), HER OWN FREE WILL (1924), TOO MANY KISSES (1925), DON JUAN'S THREE NIGHTS (1926), THE NOTORIOUS LADY, THE PRIVATE LIFE OF HELEN OF TROY, HER WILD OAT and THE PATENT LEATHER KID (all 1927), and THE HEART OF A FOLLIES GIRL, WHEEL OF CHANCE, THE HEAD MAN and OUT OF THE RUINS (all 1928).
