Born George Forrest Chichester, Jr., in Brooklyn, NY. George "Chet" Forrest and Robert "Bob" Wright were writing partners for 72 years. Their collaboration on such indelible favorites as "Stranger in Paradise" and "Baubles, Bangles and Beads" from the 1953 Broadway musical Kismet are remembered best today. Altogether, the pair wrote over 2,000 songs for the Broadway stage and motion pictures. Under contract with MGM Studios, they wrote a new score for the 1937 Jeanette MacDonald-Nelson Eddy classic MAYTIME.

Forrest's non-nominated songs and/or lyrics credits include AFTER THE THIN MAN (1936), MAMA STEPS OUT, SARATOGA and MADAME X (all 1937), SWEETHEARTS (1938), LET FREEDOM RING, THE WOMEN and BALALAIKA (all 1939), DANCE, GIRL, DANCE, MUSIC IN MY HEART and KIT CARSON (all 1940), BLONDIE GOES LATIN and FIESTA (both 1941), I MARRIED AN ANGEL and FLYING WITH MUSIC (both 1942), CRAZY HOUSE (1943), EVERYTHING I HAVE IS YOURS (1952), KISMET (1955) and THE GREAT WALTZ (1972).
