Dave Gould
(1899 - 1969)

Born in Budapest, Hungary. Choreographer who entered American film with a Vitaphone short called THE SUBWAY SYMPHONY (1932). Working at RKO, Fox, Universal, Republic, Warners and MGM, he was choreographer or dance director for such films as FLYING DOWN TO RIO (1933), THE GAY DIVORCÉE (1934), BROADWAY MELODY OF 1936 (1935), FOLIES-BERGÉRE and BORN TO DANCE (both 1936), A DAY AT THE RACES, BROADWAY MELODY OF 1938 and ROSALIE (cadet routines, uncredited) (all 1937), EVERYBODY SING and BREAKING THE ICE (both 1938), EVERYTHING'S ON ICE (1939), THE BOYS FROM SYRACUSE (1940), O, MY DARING CLEMENTINE (1943), HANDS ACROSS THE BORDER, ROSIE THE RIVETER, LADY, LET'S DANCE, ATLANTIC CITY and THE BIG BONANZA (all 1944) and THE BIG SHOW-OFF (1945). He directed some shorts at Warners in 1944 and 1945, and he produced and directed his own short GAY BUBBLES (1946), which was distributed by RKO.
