Born in Oklahoma Territory, USA. The person responsible for editing, alone or in collaboration, most of Frank Capra's greatest films. Entered American film as an editor at Universal for THE CRIMSON CANYON (1928). After moving to Columbia in 1930, her other notable editing credits (alone or in collaboration) include THE LAST MAN (1932), LADY FOR A DAY (1933), IT HAPPENED ONE NIGHT and 20TH CENTURY (both 1934), EIGHT BELLS (1935), MR. DEEDS GOES TO TOWN (1936), LOST HORIZON (1937), YOU CAN'T TAKE IT WITH YOU (1938), MR. SMITH GOES TO WASHINGTON (1939), HIS GIRL FRIDAY and ANGELS OVER BROADWAY (both 1940), DESTROYER (1943), A THOUSAND AND ONE NIGHTS (1945), DEAD RECKONING (1947) and SANTA FE (1951). Havlick finished out her career at Columbia editing "b" movies in the 1950s. She retired after editing SCREAMING MIMI (1958).
