Gaslight (1944)

Born in New York City. Shortly after being admitted to the New York bar in 1917, he saw WW I service as a lieutenant with counter-espionage for US Intelligence. Upon discharge he began writing and producing for Broadway. In 1927 he went to Hollywood as a production supervisor for Sam Goldwyn and was appointed producer at Paramount in 1933. He moved to MGM in 1942 and became an independent producer in the mid-50s. Notable non-nominated producing credits include ARROWSMITH (1931, exec. producer), MISSISSIPPI (1935), WAIKIKI WEDDING, EASY LIVING and HIGH, WIDE AND HANDSOME (all 1937), ARTISTS AND MODELS ABROAD (1938), MIDNIGHT and THE CAT AND THE CANARY (both 1939), ARISE, MY LOVE (1940), I WANTED WINGS and NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH (both 1941), THE MAJOR AND THE MINOR (1942), HEAVENLY BODY (1943), CASS TIMBERLAINE (1947), THE ASPHALT JUNGLE (1950), MILLION DOLLAR MERMAID (1952), REMAINS TO BE SEEN (1953), OKLAHOMA! (1955) and THE WAR LOVER (1962). He was the first husband (1936-42) of Myrna Loy.
