Louis Mesenkop
(1903 - 1974)

Sound recording supervisor and audible special effects artist who entered American film as a sound recordist for ROSE OF THE RANCHO (1936) at Paramount. Some of his notable non-nominated credits include THE GENERAL DIED AT DAWN and THE PLAINSMAN (both also 1936), WAIKIKI WEDDING (1937) and THE TEN COMMANDMENTS (1956).

 Special Award 1938: For outstanding achievement in creating special effects in the Paramount production, SPAWN OF THE NORTH. Winners presented Plaques. (w. Loren L. Ryder, Harry Mills & Walter Oberst for Sound Effects)
