Conrad Nagel

Born in Keokuk, Iowa. Matinee idol of the American stage and romantic star of scores of Hollywood films in the 20s and 30s. Later in character roles. A co-founder and former president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, he was involved in the creation of the Academy Awards and until his death was president of AAAA (Associated Actors and Artistes of America). In 1939 he received a special Academy Award for his work on the Motion Picture Relief Fund. He directed one film, LOVE TAKES FLIGHT (1937).

 Honorary Award 1939: "Acknowledging the outstanding services to the industry during the past year of the Motion Picture Relief Fund and its progressive leadership." Winners presented Plaques. (w.
