Born in Darjeeling, India. He entered American film as technical director for C. B. De Mille's THE TEN COMMANDMENTS (1923) at Famous Players-Lasky. He was also t.d. for De Mille's FEET OF CLAY (1924) and assistant director of Herbert Brenon's PETER PAN (1924, also special effects). Working in many fields in the industry, Pomeroy directed the sound version of INTERFERENCE (1928 - at a salary of $2,500/week), INSIDE THE LINES (1930, also assoc. producer) and SHOCK (1934, also writer). His special effects were seen in OLD IRONSIDES (1926), WINGS (1927) and THE ROUGH RIDERS (also 1927).
Pomeroy was one of the 36 founders of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
