Born in New York City. Composer and songwriter whose scores were used in YOU'RE A SWEETHEART (1937, uncredited), THE COWBOY AND THE LADY (1938, also song) and DOWN MEXICO WAY (1941). His songs were used in SWISS MISS and MERRILY WE LIVE (both 1938) and FUN AND FANCY FREE (1947). He composed some songs for Disney cartoon shorts and features, including PINOCCHIO (1940).
Some of his collaborators included Lionel Newman, Phil Craig (Philip Charig), Artie Shaw and Oliver Wallace. Other than his nominated songs, some other notable titles include "Easy to Say," "I Can't Carry a Tune," "Love Is Here," "Moonray" and "Without a Dream to My Name."
