Irmin Roberts

Roberts' special effects and visual effects credits include SPAWN OF THE NORTH (1938), FOR WHOM THE BELL TOLLS (1943), A CONNECTICUT YANKEE IN KING ARTHUR'S COURT and THE GREAT GATSBY (both 1949), THE WAR OF THE WORLDS and THE GIRLS OF PLEASURE ISLAND (both 1953), REAR WINDOW (1954, uncredited), CONQUEST OF SPACE (1955) and THE COURT JESTER (1956).

Roberts also worked as a second unit camera operator or director of photography on ELEPHANT WALK (1954), VERTIGO (1958, uncredited), HELLER IN PINK TIGHTS (1960), GIRLS! GIRLS! GIRLS! (1962) and IT'S A MAD MAD MAD MAD WORLD and FUN IN ACAPULCO (both 1963).

Roberts is credited with developing the dolly-in/zoom-out shot used in Alfred Hitchcock's VERTIGO.
