Joseph Ruttenberg

Born in St. Petersburg, Russia. Former photojournalist and newsreel photographer-producer who served as a cinematographer with Fox (1917-26), MGM (1926-62) and Paramount. Ruttenberg was one of Hollywood's foremost directors of photography from the late 1930s through the 50s.

PARKINGTON (1944), VALLEY OF DECISION (1945), B.F.'S DAUGHTER (1948), THAT FORSYTE WOMAN (1949), THE MAGNIFICENT YANKEE (1950), THE GREAT CARUSO (1951), THE PRISONER OF ZENDA (1952), BRIGADOON and THE LAST TIME I SAW PARIS (both 1954), INTERRUPTED MELODY and KISMET (both 1955), THE SWAN (1956), THE WRECK OF THE MARY DEARE (1959), BACHELOR IN PARADISE (1961), IT HAPPENED AT THE WORLD'S FAIR (1963), HARLOW (1965), THE OSCAR (1966) and his last film, SPEEDWAY (1968).
