Benjamin Silvey
(1894 - 1948)

Born in New York State. Entered American film as an assistant director for THE SONG OF THE FLAME (1930) at Warner Bros./First National. Other notable a.d. credits include COMPROMISED (1931), LADIES THEY TALK ABOUT (1933), THE HOUSE OF ROTHSCHILD and KID MILLIONS (both 1934) and CARDINAL RICHELIEU (1935). He also worked as unit manager, production manager, assistant producer or producer on such films as UNDER TWO FLAGS (1936), THIN ICE (1937), JESSE JAMES and STANLEY AND LIVINGSTONE (both 1939), SUN VALLEY SERENADE (1941), WITHIN THESE WALLS and THE SPIDER (both 1945) and THE SNAKE PIT (1948).
