Born in Lublin, Russia. Art director, production designer and set designer who entered American film as the set designer for LOVE (a.k.a. ANNA KARENINA (UK), 1927) at MGM. He designed the sets for THE LOVELORN (also 1927), then became an art director for MOCKERY (also 1927). Other art direction credits include THE ADVENTURER (1928), RASPUTIN AND THE EMPRESS (1932), STORY AT DAYBREAK and QUEEN CHRISTINA (both 1933), THE CAT AND THE FIDDLE and RIPTIDE (both 1934), SHANGHAI (1935), BIG BROWN EYES, THE CASE AGAINST MRS. AMES and SPENDTHRIFT (all 1936), YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE, HISTORY IS MADE AT NIGHT, VOGUES OF 1938 (also prod. designer) and STAND-IN (all 1937), I MET MY LOVE AGAIN, BLOCKADE, ALGIERS and TRADE WINDS (all 1938) and STAGECOACH and WINTER CARNIVAL (both 1939). Toluboff was production designer for EVERY NIGHT AT EIGHT (1935) and PALM SPRINGS (1936).
