Born in New York City. Composer, music arranger and musical director of hundreds of Hollywood films at RKO from 1929 until 1951. The Internet Movie Database lists 335 film and TV composing credits and 81 arranger/director credits. Even though Webb never won an Academy Award (he's became known as "The Forgotten Man" among Hollywood film composers), some of Webb's scores at RKO have become minor classics: CAT PEOPLE (1942), I WALKED WITH A ZOMBIE (1943), THE ENCHANTED COTTAGE (1945) and BEDLAM and NOTORIOUS (1946) are some of his most memorable scores.
Some of Webb's notable credits after leaving RKO include HOUDINI (1953, Paramount), MARTY (1955, UA), OUR MISS BROOKS (1956, Warners) and TEACHER'S PET (1958, Paramount). |
