Writer and director who entered American film in 1924. His writing credits include the Harold Lloyd comedies GIRL SHY (1924, Pathé), THE FRESHMAN (1925), FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE (1926) and THE KID BROTHER (1927, also director). Other directing credits inlcude BATTLING ORIOLES (1924, Hal Roach), BABE COMES HOME (1927), SPEEDY (1928) and LOOSE ANKLES and CLANCY IN WALL STREET (both released in 1930). Wilde's career was cut short when he died from a stroke at age 36.
