Born in New York City. Composer and songwriter who wrote No, No, Nannette, Take a Chance and Tea for Two, all of which were adapted to the screen. He wrote the musical scores for HIT THE DECK, SONG OF THE WEST and WHAT A WIDOW! (all 1930) and FLYING DOWN TO RIO (1933).
Working with such lyricists as Gus Kahn, Irving Caesar, Edward Eliscu, Billy Rose, Harold Adamson and Mack Gordon, some of his notable songs include "Great Day," "I Want To Be Happy," "More Than You Know," "Tea for Two," "Time on My Hands" and "Without a Song."
