theOscarSite Bio: Amanda Micheli is an award-winning filmmaker with a solid background as both a director/producer and a cinematographer. While she was a student at Harvard University, she directed, shot and edited her first film, JUST FOR THE RIDE (1995), a documentary about cowgirls on the women's Pro Rodeo circuit. Her film won a Student Academy Award and International Documentary Association Award in student the student category and premiered on the prestigious PBS series "POV" in 1996.

Micheli's second film as a director, DOUBLE DARE (2004), premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and won the audience award for Best Documentary at both the AFI FEST in Los Angeles and the San Francisco International Film Festival, among others. It was broadcast on the PBS series "Independent Lens" in 2005 and had a limited theatrical and a broad DVD release. Micheli was then a producer and the director of photography on Lauren Greenfield's award-winning film THIN (2006, HBO) and shot the premiere episode of Morgan Spurlock's new series, 30 DAYS (2005).

Micheli's other D.P. credits include: MY FLESH AND BLOOD (2003, HBO), a Sundance and Emmy Award-winning documentary; THE FLUTE PLAYER (2003, PBS), an Emmy®-nominated film shot in Cambodia; and WITCHES IN EXILE (2004), which won the special jury prize at SXSW. In 2004, she also directed and shot DOUBLE DARE, which chronicles the lives of two professional stuntwomen - Jeannie Epper, the other Wonder Woman, and Zoë Bell, Xena's tougher half. Micheli's documentary short film LA CORONA / THE CROWN (2008) was nominated for an Academy Award.

Currently, Micheli is a producer and D.P. on CAT DANCERS, an HBO film in production. She is also producing various commercial shorts for clients including Adobe Software, Apple, and Nike, while developing new documentary projects.

She is a graduate of Harvard University and was a member of the top U.S. women's rugby team for over a decade.
