Biography from International Documentary Association; photo (2007) from Film Panel Notetaker theOscarSite Bio: Tim Sternberg started working in the editing rooms of Francis Ford Coppola's American Zoetrope Studios in San Francisco while still in high school. After moving to New York he worked in positions as diverse as sound effects recordist on Nora Ephron's SLEEPLESS IN SEATTLE (1993) and Robert Benton's THE HUMAN STAIN (2003), re-editing the Academy Award winning MEDITERRANEO (1991) for US release, and acting as a script consultant for American Zoetrope, IFP, and Channel Four films among others. Sternberg worked as the picture editor on Coppola's MEGALOPOLIS, music editor on Milos Forman's GOYA'S GHOSTS (2006), and the Academy Award winning THE BLOOD OF YINGZHOU DISTRICT (2006), directed by Ruby Yang. SALIM BABA (2008), shot just over four days in Calcutta, India, was his first film as a director.
