Hugh Welchman
Biography and photo (2006) from Breakthru Films theOscarSite Bio: Welchman won the Cinefoundation for his first film CROW STONE (2001) and produced two short films (LOCATIONS NOT USED and HOLY COCONUTS, both 2001) for Monty Python. Founding BreakThru Films with Alan Dewhurst in 2002, he has produced a feature-length documentary and short films (THE MOST BEAUTIFUL MAN IN THE WORLD, 2002; THE CLAP, 2005), winning top festival Prizes, twice making Official Selection for Cannes and being short listed for a BAFTA. Welchman was Associate Producer on FREE JIMMY the 2006 CGI animation. BreakThru Films' PETER & THE WOLF was produced at Oscar®-winning Se-Ma-For studios, and was directed by BAFTA winner Suzie Templeton. It received an Academy Award® for 2007. He also worked as a visual effects supervisor for LA MÔME / LA VIE EN ROSE (2007). Welchman is in production on SH! a low-budget feature and a series of animations for mobile phones.
