Born Jerome S. Bresler in Denver, CO; educated at Swarthmore College. Songwriter ("Johnny Angel"), conductor, author and producer, educated at the Chicago Musical College, the Chicago College of Music, DePaul University and NYU. At 14, he conducted his first orchestra, and later conducted orchestras for radio and television programs. Joining ASCAP in 1950, he wrote and produced night club acts for Jaye P. Morgan, Robert Goulet, Gordon and Sheila MacRae, Steve Lawrence and Eydie Gorme, Kate Smith, Sophie Tucker, Arlene Dahl, Jane Morgan, Marguerite Piazza and others, and formed a partnership with Lyn Duddy. His song compositions include "The Clock Song", "Five Guys Named Moe", "Without You" and "Hush-A-Bye Baby".
Beginning as a unit manager at MGM in 1939, he became a producer of musical shorts by 1943. Moving into feature-length films by 1947, his producer credits include THE AMELIO AFFAIR. That same year, he moved to Universal and produced THE WEB and SINGAPORE (both 1947), ANOTHER PART OF THE FOREST and AN ACT OF MURDER (both 1948), and ABANDONED (1949). In 1950, he moved to Columbia for CONVICTED and THE FLYING MISSLE (both 1950), THE MOB (1951), and ASSIGNMENT: PARIS (1952). As an independent producer, Bresler's credits include SPRING REUNION and LIZZIE (both 1957), THE VIKINGS (1958), BECAUSE THEY'RE YOUNG (1960), GIDGET GOES HAWAIIAN (1961), DIAMOND HEAD and GIDGET GOES TO ROME (both 1963), LOVE HAS MANY FACES and MAJOR DUNDEE (both 1965), and CASINO ROYALE and PUSSYCAT, PUSSYCAT, I LOVE YOU (both 1967).
