Edison, the Man (1940)
Born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. A journalist and playwright, he went to Hollywood in 1937 and wrote a number of noteworthy screenplays and adaptations through the early 1950s, including BIG CITY (1937), A CHRISTMAS CAROL (1938), THE ADVENTURES OF HUCKLEBERRY FINN (1939), YOUNG TOM EDISON, EDISON THE MAN and WYOMING (all 1940), BLOSSOMS IN THE DUST (1941, uncredited), LASSIE COME HOME (1943), THE SOUTHERNER (1945), THE PROWLER (1951), ROBINSON CRUSOE (1954), TORERO (1956), THE YOUNG ONE (1960), EVA and SODOM AND GOMORRAH (both 1962), FACE IN THE RAIN (1963), and his last film, THE LEGEND OF LYLAH CLARE (1968).
