Born in Pittsburgh, PA. Art director who entered American film in 1937 as an associate for the musical settings of ON THE AVENUE at Fox. Other associate credits include WAKE UP AND LIVE and CHARLIE CHAN AT MONTE CARLO (both also 1937). As an art director, Douglas' credits alone or in collaboration include MR. MOTO'S GAMBLE, ONE WILD NIGHT and CHARLIE CHAN IN HONOLULU (all 1938), CHASING DANGER, THE ESCAPE and BARRICADE (all 1939), YOU'RE THE ONE, WEST POINT WIDOW and NIGHT OF JANUARY 16TH (all 1941), STREET OF CHANCE and THE GLASS KEY (both 1942), FOR WHOM THE BELL TOLLS (1943), HAIL THE CONQUERING HERO and RAINBOW ISLAND (both 1944), SALTY O'ROURKE and OUT OF THIS WORLD (both 1945), OUR HEARTS WERE GROWING UP (1947), and EASY COME, EASY GO and WILD HARVEST (both 1946).
