Meet Me in St. Louis (1944)
Born in Springfield, MA; educated at VMI and Yale Law School. Playwright and screenwriter whose play Brother Rat was adpated to the screen in 1938. Finklehoffe collaborated on a sequel, BROTHER RAT AND A BABY in 1940. Other notable screen credits, alone or in collaboration, include STRIKE UP THE BAND (also 1940), BABES ON BROADWAY (1941), PANAMA HATTIE and FOR ME AND MY GIRL (both 1942), BEST FOOT FORWARD and GIRL CRAZY (both 1943), MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS (1944), MR. ACE (1946), THE EGG AND I (1947, also producer), WORDS AND MUSIC (1948), AT WAR WITH THE ARMY (1950, also producer), ABOUT FACE (1952) and THE STOOGE (1953). He was a writer for Judy Garland's musical special on "General Electric Theater" (1953), and he also wrote episodes for "McHale's Navy," "The Richard Boone Show" and "Kraft Suspense Theatre."
