The Westerner (1940)

Born in Rome, NY. Author of the book Wyatt Earp, Frontier Marshal, which was used as the basis for FRONTIER MARSHAL (1934 & 1939), MY DARLING CLEMENTINE (1946), and the 1955 TV series "The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp". Alone or in collaboration, Lake was the story writer for BUCK PRIVATES (1928), and the westerns WELLS FARGO (1937), THE WESTERNER (1940), WELLS FARGO DAYS (1944), WINCHESTER '73 (1950), and POWDER RIVER (1953).  Nominated for Writing (Original Story) 1940: THE WESTERNER 1 nomination
