Angela Lansbury
(1925 -     )
Biography from Baseline's Encyclopedia of Film

Stage-trained actress whose early screen career was marked by a string of unsympathetic portraits, beginning with her acclaimed debut in GASLIGHT (1944); Lansbury was also memorable as Laurence Harvey's manipulative mother in THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE (1962). Most of her subsequent work has been for stage and TV, most notably Tony Award-winning roles in Mame, Dear World, Gypsy and Sweeney Todd, and the long-running TV series "Murder, She Wrote." Lansbury also supplied the voice for Mrs. Potts, the singing, talking china teapot who performs the memorable song "Be Our Guest" in the Walt Disney animated classic BEAUTY AND THE BEAST (1991).
