Sound recording engineer from the early days of talkies whose first credit is THE MISSISSIPPI GAMBLER for Universal in 1929. He remained at that studio for the next 35 years, contributing to over 140 films and TV series, including such stand-outs as ONE HUNDRED MEN AND A GIRL (1937), subsequent Deanna Durbin vehicles, MY LITTLE CHICKADEE and THE BOYS FROM SYRACUSE (both 1940), IT STARTED WITH EVE and THE WOLF MAN (both 1941), SMASH-UP: THE STORY OF A WOMAN and A DOUBLE LIFE (both 1947), HARVEY (1950), THE GLENN MILLER STORY (1953), CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON (1954), TAMMY AND THE BACHELOR (1957), IMITATION OF LIFE (1959), SPARTACUS and MIDNIGHT LACE (both 1960), FLOWER DRUM SONG (1961), THE UGLY AMERICAN (1963), and his last film, SEND ME NO FLOWERS (1964).
