The composer of such landmark Broadway musicals as Where's Charley?, Guys and Dolls, The Most Happy Fella, and the Pulitzer Prize-winning How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, he also scored a number of films and wrote many popular film songs. He won an Academy Award for the music and lyrics of the song "Baby, It's Cold Outside" from the film NEPTUNE'S DAUGHTER (1949). Among his many other songs are "The Moon of Manakoora," "Small Fry," "Says My Heart," "Jingle Jangle Jingle," "No Two People," "I've Never Been in Love Before," "If I Were a Bell," "Heart and Soul," "They're Either Too Young or Too Old," "Tallahassee," and "On a Slow Boat to China."
