Daniel Mandell
(1895 - 1987)

Born in New York City. Film editor who entered American film in 1924 with THE TURMOIL for Universal. Other notable (non-nominted) credits include SHOW BOAR (1929), HOLIDAY (1930), THESE THREE and DODSWORTH (both 1936), DEAD END (1937), WUTHERING HEIGHTS (1939), THE WESTERNER (1940), MEET JOHN DOE and BALL OF FIRE (both 1941), THE NORTH STAR (1943), UP IN ARMS, ARSENIC AND OLD LACE and THE PRINCESS AND THE PIRATE (all 1944), WONDER MAN (1945), A SONG IS BORN (1948), MY FOOLISH HEART (1949), HANS CHRISTIAN ANDERSEN (1952), GUYS AND DOLLS (1955), PORGY AND BESS (1959), ONE, TWO THREE (1961), IRMA LA DOUCE (1963), KISS ME, STUPID (1964) and his last film, THE FORTUNE COOKIE (1966). In all, he cut eight of Billy Wilder's films.
