Film editor in Hollywood from 1937, his first credit is for the Three Stooges comedy short GRIPS, GRUNTS AND GROANS at Columbia. He continued to cut Stooges' shorts through the 1930s. In 1939, he moved to editing some of Columbia's "B" westerns, such as TWO-FISTED RANGERS (1939), KONGA, THE WILD STALLION (1940), and THE FACE BEHIND THE MASK (1941). He also edited some of the "Blondie" series of features (1941-42). By 1943, he was ready to graduate to the studio's front-line features, and his subsequent credits include A NIGHT TO REMEMBER and SAHARA (both 1943), NONE SHALL ESCAPE (1944), A SONG TO REMEMBER (1945), GILDA (1946), THE GUILT OF JANET AMES (1947), GLAMOUR GIRL and THE LOVES OF CARMEN (both 1948), SONG OF INDIA and ANNA LUCASTA (both 1949), BORN YESTERDAY (1950), THE MOB (1951), ASSIGNMENT: PARIS (1952), THE BIG HEAT (1953), IT SHOULD HAPPEN TO YOU (1954), MY SISTER EILEEN and PICNIC (both 1955), THE SOLID GOLD CADILLAC (1956), BELL BOOK AND CANDLE (1958), THE LAST ANGRY MAN (1959), THE WACKIEST SHIP IN THE ARMY (1960), THE DEVIL AT 4 O'CLOCK (1961), THE NOTORIOUS LANDLADY (1962), BYE BYE BIRDIE and UNDER THE YUM YUM TREE (both 1963), GOOD NEIGHBOR SAM (1964), CAT BALLOU (1965), THE SILENCERS (1966), ENTER LAUGHING (1967), and his last film, BARQUERO (1970).
