Born in Greenville, SC. Composer and songwriter who came to prominence in the days just before World War II with his song "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy of Company 'B'," which was first used in BUCK PRIVATES (1941). Other Prince songs in the film were "Bounce Me Brother With a Solid Four", "When Private Brown Becomes a Captain", "You're a Lucky Fellow, Mr. Smith" and "I Wish You Were Here." Earlier, Prince had written "Brooklynonga", "Hit the Road" and "Rhumbaboogie" for Universal's Ritz Brothers'-Andrews Sisters' ARGENTINE NIGHTS (1940).
Prince composed music for Walter Lantz cartoons (RECRUITING DAZE, 1940, and BOOGIE WOOGIE BUGLE BOY OF COMPANY 'B', later in 1941), and he wrote, directed and scored THE STRIP TEASE MURDER CASE (1950) for Futurity Pictures.
