Born in Ohio, USA. Story- and screenplay writer who entered American film writing for Spanish-language productions at Warner Bros. in the mid-1930s (LA BUENAVENTURA, 1934; EL CANTANTE DE NAPOLES and ANGELINA O EL HONOR DE UN BRIGADIER, both 1935). Other notable screenplay or story credits, alone or in collaboration, include PARDON OUR NERVE and EVERYBODY'S BABY (both 1939), GOLD RUSH MAISIE (1940), MAISIE WAS A LADIE (1941), MAISIE GETS HER MAN (1942), HIS BUTLER'S SISTER (1943), LAURA (1944), SENTIMENTAL JOURNEY and CLUNY BROWN (both 1946), CARNIVAL IN COSTA RICA (1947), GIVE MY REGARDS TO BROADWAY and WHEN MY BABY SMILES AT ME (both 1948), HIT PARADE OF 1951 (1950), and her last film, THE TALL TEXAN (1953, additional dialogue).
