Grantland Rice
(1880 - 1954)

Born in Murfeesboro, TN; educated at Vanderbilt University. Baseball writer for the Nashville Daily News, Atlanta Journal, Cleveland News, New York Evening Mail, New York Herald-Tribune and New York Daily News. Wrote (and sometimes produced) a series of 30 silent one- and two-reelers on sports topics from 1921 to 1922. Continued producing sports shorts distributed by RKO-Pathé through 1931. Producer of HOLLYWOOD HOBBIES (1935) and the nominated short subjects AMPHIBIOUS FIGHTERS (1943) and WHITE RHAPSODY (1945).
