Set decorator who entered American film as with Fred Niblo's CAMILLE (1926) at Norma Talmadge Film Corp. Roberts worked in the art department for TWO ARABIAN KNIGHTS (1927, UA) and as an interior decorator or assistant art director for THE GARDEN OF EDEN and TEMPEST (both 1928), LITTLE LORD FAUNTLEROY (1936), THE PRISONER OF ZENDA (1938), INTERMEZZO: A LOVE STORY (1939) and THE GREAT MR. NOBODY (1941). As set decorator, his credits - alone or in collaboration - include THE ADVENTURES OF TOM SAWYER (1938), ABE LINCOLN IN ILLINOIS (1940), SECRET ENEMIES, CAPTAINS OF THE CLOUDS and GEORGE WASHINGTON SLEPT HERE (all 1942), THE MYSTERIOUS DOCTOR, BACKGROUND TO DANGER and NORTHERN PURSUIT (all 1943), IN OUR TIME, CRIME BY NIGHT, TO HAVE AND HAVE NOT and HOLLYWOOD CANTEEN (all 1944), CHRISTMAS IN CONNECTICUT (1945), DEVOTION and NOBODY LIVES FOREVER (both 1946), THE SECRET LIFE OF WALTER MITTY (1947), JOAN OF ARC (1948) and his last film, LOVE HAPPY (1949).
