Yankee Doodle Dandy (1942)
Born in Milwaukee, WI. Composer (usually uncredited) of stock music for Universal that was used in hundreds of films, either at Universal or licensed as part of its stock music library. Among the hundreds of films that he scored from 1929 to 1962 (again, usually uncredited), some standouts are his first film, TARZAN THE TIGER (1929), THE INVISIBLE MAN (1933), IMITATION OF LIFE (1934), THE LIVES OF BENGAL LANCER and THE STORY OF LOUIS PASTEUR (both 1935), CHINA CLIPPER and CAIN AND MABEL (both 1936), SAN QUENTIN and KID GALAHAD (both 1937), FOUR DAUGHTERS (1938), THE ROARING TWENTIES (1939), KNUTE ROCKNE ALL AMERICAN (1940), BLUES IN THE NIGHT and THE STRAWBERRY BLONDE (both 1941), YANKEE DOODLE DANDY (1942), THE DESERT SONG (1943), SHINE ON HARVEST MOON (1944), JANIE and WONDER MAN (both 1945), KILL THE UMPIRE (1950), THE 5,000 FINGERS OF DR. T. (1953), PHFFFT (1954), and his last film, LAD: A DOG (1962). Roemheld also composed the music for the pop song "Ruby."
