Born in Chicago, IL. Producer and director of almost 200 "Screen Snapshots" for Columbia from 1930 to 1957, he has a star on the Hollywood "Walk of Fame." Entering American film in 1925 as cinematographer for FIGHTIN' ODDS, he moved to Columbia in 1930 and joined the "Screen Snapshots" which was on its ninth series. These one-reel shorts wandered around Hollywood and showed the stars in "candid" moments. They often featured Staub himself as interviewer/announcer.
In addition to "Screen Snapshots," Staub's producing credits include MAMA RUNS WILD (1937), Jimmie Fiddler's PERSONALITY PARADE (1938), 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF MOTION PICTURES (1944), A LASS IN ALASKA (1948), FABULOUS HOLLYWOOD (1956), THE HEART OF SHOW BUSINESS and HOLLYWOOD GLAMOUR ON ICE (both 1957), and GLAMOROUS HOLLYWOOD and ROCK 'EM COWBOY (both 1958).
