Born in Odessa, Russia (now Ukraine). Composer and arranger who entered American film uncredited with THE LOVE PARADE (1929) and THE VAGABOND KING and THE VIRTUOUS SIN (both 1930). After assisting Meredith Willson on THE GREAT DICTATOR (1940), he began to receive credit in the early 1940s with such short subjects as INFLATION (1942), PORTRAIT OF A GENIUS, CALLING ALL KIDS and HEAVENLY MUSIC (all 1943). While on the MGM staff, Terr composed music for the "Crime Does Not Pay" and "Passing Parade" series of shorts.
