Born in Wyoming, USA. Film editor who entered American film with PALMY DAYS at the Samuel Goldwyn Co. in 1931. Other notable credits, alone or in collaboration, include FOLIES BERGÉRE DE PARIS, CARDINAL RICHELIEU and THE DARK ANGEL (all 1935), BELOVED ENEMY (1936), STELLA DALLAS (1937), THE COWBOY AND THE LADY (1938), THEY SHALL HAVE MUSIC and RAFFLES (both 1939), OUR TOWN and THE LONG VOYAGE HOME (both 1940), THE DEVIL AND MISS JONES (1941), JOAN OF PARIS (1942), and FOR WHOM THE BELL TOLLS (1943). After taking off time for World War II, Todd returned to Hollywood for MAGIC TOWN (1947), BERLIN EXPRESS and THEY LIVE BY NIGHT (both 1948), A WOMAN'S SECRET (1949), OUR VERY OWN (1950), FLYING LEATHERNECKS and THE RACKET (both 1951), THE IMORTAL CITY (1954), BACKLASH and DAY OF FURY (both 1956), ISTANBUL and NIGHT PASSAGE (both 1957), and THE LADY TAKES A FLYER and DAY OF THE BAD MAN (both 1958).
Todd had begun working in television in 1952, editing episodes of the "Hopalong Cassidy" and "My Hero" series. From 1958, he worked solely in that medium, cutting episodes of "Black Saddle", "Wanted: Dead or Alive", "The Rifleman", "The Westerner", "Burke's Law", "The Rogues" and "The Big Valley" until his retirement in 1969.
