Born in London, England. Composer who worked uncredited for several studios from 1933 to 1938, as music supervisor or composer of scores or stock music. In 1939, he scored his first cartoon for Disney, SOCIETY DOG SHOW. He remained with Disney for the rest of his career, composing scores to over 130 cartoons, documentaries and most of the classic Disney animated and live action features of the era: DUMBO (1941), VICTORY THROUGH AIR POWER (1943), THE ADVENTURES OF ICHABOD AND MR. TOAD (1949), CINDERELLA (1950), ALICE IN WONDERLAND (1951), BEN AND ME and PETER PAN (1953), LADY AND THE TRAMP (1955), OLD YELLER (1957), THE LEGEND OF SLEEPY HOLLOW (1958), DARBY O'GILL AND THE LITTLE PEOPLE (1959), and his last film, THE INCREDIBLE JOURNEY (1963).
