Lucinda Ballard
(1906 - 1993)

A costume designer on Broadway from 1937, she won the first Tony Award for Costume Design in 1947 for her distinguished work in the plays Happy Birthday, Another Part of the Forest, Street Scene, John Loves Mary, and The Chocolate Soldier. Other Broadway credits include A Streetcar Named Desire (also 1947), The Fourposter (1951), Silk Stockings and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (both 1955), The Dark at the Top of the Stairs (1957), The Sound of Music (1959) and her last Broadway show, Tiger, Tiger Burning Bright (1962). Her only film credits are PORTRAIT OF JENNIE (1948) and A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE (1953).
