The Snake Pit (1948)
Born in Washington, DC. Entered American film as a film editor in silents for THE SECRET HOUR (1928) at Paramount Famous Lasky, where he stayed through 1930. In 1934, he edited Henry King's CAROLINA, which starred Janet Gaynor and Lionel Barrymore at Fox. During WW II, he became a producer at 20th Century-Fox. His notable unnominated credits there include MY GAL SAL and THE BLACK SWAN (both 1942), TAMPICO (1944), THE BRASHER DOUBLOON (1947), GREEN GRASS OF WYOMING (1948), SAND (1949), HALLS OF MONTEZUMA and THE HOUSE ON TELEGRAPH HILL (both 1951), BENEATH THE 12-MILE REEF (1953), SUDDENLY (1954) and GENTLEMEN MARRY BRUNETTES (1955, exec. producer). He also produced episodes for the TV series "The Californians" (1957), "Buckskin" (1958) and "Outlaws" (1960).
