Born in Philadelphia, PA. After working as a reporter for a newspaper and a wire service, he started writing for the screen in 1947. He won the Mystery Writers of America's Edgar Allan Poe Award for his screenplay of THE BIG HEAT (1953). Other notable credits include WHEN WORLDS COLLIDE (1951), ROGUE COP (1954), HARRY BLACK AND TIGER (1958) and SHOCK TREATMENT (1964). He also wrote and produced three motion pictures for 20th Century-Fox: WOMAN OBSESSED (1959) and SEVEN THIEVES and ONE FOOT IN HELL (both 1960).
