Art director who entered American film as an associate for YOUNG DR. KILDARE (1938) at MGM. In 1939, he worked as an uncredited production designer for THE WIZARD OF OZ. He continued as an associate art director until 1943, when he got his first art director credit: SLIGHTLY DANGEROUS. He stayed at Metro through 1960, working as art director for such productions as THEY WERE EXPENDABLE (1945), GREEN DOLPHIN STREET (1947), THE THREE MUSKETEERS (1948), THE NAKED SPUR (1953), BAD DAY AT BLACK ROCK (1955), THE SHEEPMAN, NO TIME FOR SERGEANTS and TORPEDO RUN (all 1958), THE MATING GAME and WATUSI (both 1959) and KEY WITNESS (1960). He then began working for other studios on projects like BY LOVE POSSESSED (1961), TENDER IS THE NIGHT and MR. HOBBS TAKES A VACATION (both 1962), TAKE HER, SHE'S MINE (1963), KITTEN WITH A WHIP (1964), DEAR BRIGITTE and CAT BALLOU (both 1965) and LORD LOVE A DUCK and JOHNNY RENO (1966).
