Born in Mexico. Art director and production designer who entered American films with MY WILD IRISH ROSE (1947) at Warner Bros. Other notable non-nominated credits include THE FOUNTAINHEAD (1949), THE MIRACLE OF OUR LADY OF FATIMA (1952), DIAL M FOR MURDER (1954), RUN SILENT RUN DEEP and SEPARATE TABLES (both 1958), ELMER GANTRY (1960), TARAS BULBA (1962), THE PLEASURE SEEKERS (1964), NEVER TOO LATE (1965) and his last film, THE WILD BUNCH (1969).
