Born Elizabeth Cohen in Brooklyn, NY. With partner Adolph Green wrote memorable songs and musicals for stage and screen, including GOOD NEWS (1947), TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALL GAME (songs only), ON THE TOWN and THE BARKLEYS OF BROADWAY (all 1949), AUNTIE MAME (1958) and BELLS ARE RINGING (1960). Their fast-paced scenarios and impeccable lyrics gave birth to hit after hit, including what many consider the greatest movie musical of all time, SINGIN' IN THE RAIN (1952).
